Follow Singer-Songwriter Colter Wall’s ‘Road to Made in America’ [Exclusive Video]

Traditional country fans will want to get to know Colter Wall. The Canadian singer-songwriter will be performing at the 2016 Budweiser Made in America Festival, and in advance of his appearance, he's being profiled as part of TIDAL's Road to Made in America series. The brand-new clip is premiering exclusively on The Boot.

In the video above, readers will see Wall head to Okemah, Okla. -- birthplace of Woody Guthrie -- and get an intimate glimpse into Wall's sound and songwriting philosophy.

"Talking about old dudes that are a huge influence for me, [Guthrie]'s a pretty substantial one, you know,” Wall says before taking the stage at WoodyFest, the town’s annual event honoring the late folk legend. The singer's sound infuses folk and rock into a traditional country aesthetic, with vocals that will draw comparisons to Johnny Cash, and Guthrie isn't his only influence.

“I was probably in, like, the 11th grade, I think, when I heard “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” by Bob Dylan, and that song kind of made me decide that I wanted to start trying to write songs and sing songs, and not just be a guitar player but be a songwriter," Wall remembers. "Dylan was really the first major dude that I heard that made me want to get into finger-picking and playing acoustic guitar and telling stories.”

The 2016 2016 Budweiser Made in America Festival is set for Sept. 3 and 4 at Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway. At the annual event, Wall will join a star-studded lineup that features Rihanna and Coldplay, as well as up-and-coming acts from all genres, who will perform on the TIDAL Stage. Two-day passes are still on sale for the fest, and more information about Wall is available on his official website.
