Thelma and Louise, a.k.a. Shania Twain and Taylor Swift, opened the star-studded CMT Music Awards with a hilarious skit that set the tone for the night: great music mixed with a lot of fun. Show host Kid Rock kept the comedy going in his own skit with Wynonna, as the rocker's opening lines were hijacked by the country legend, who sang a few lines of a new song, 'Hell Yes, I'm Country,' and quipped, "This isn't MTV. This is CMT, son."

And CMT put on quite a show. Comedy was balanced with some explosive musical surprises, including two-time winners the Band Perry singing Rihanna and Eminem's 'Love the Way You Lie' before their own 'You Lie' and Lady Antebellum tackling Prince's classic 'Kiss' just after their own new single, 'Just a Kiss.' Jason Aldean closed the show with 'Dirt Road Anthem,' as Ludacris rapped alongside him. Toby Keith debuted a brand-new song, 'Made in America,' while Sugarland played their fan-favorite, 'Stand Up,' accompanied by Missouri tornado victims on stage.

While the Band Perry and Blake Shelton were the only double winners of the night, Taylor Swift claimed the show's top honor, Video of the Year. The 21-year-old superstar is on tour and thus was unable to attend the show, so CMT cut to a live satellite feed of her on stage in Milwaukee, Wis., where she accepted the trophy for her 'Mine' video.

"I just want to say thank you and hey to everyone there," said a beaming Taylor on the big video screens. "I wish I could be there, but I'm hanging out with 15,000 of my closest friends in Milwaukee ... I want to thank the fans who voted. I don't know what I did to deserve you guys, but you have done so many amazing things for me in my life."

CMT's "belt buckle" trophies for Male Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year will be shipped to the same home, as newlyweds Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are winners in those categories -- Blake for 'Who Are You When I'm Not Looking' and his bride for 'The House That Built Me.' Additionally, the director for both clips, Trey Fanjoy, is this year's CMT Video Director of the Year winner. Blake also takes home the honors for Web Video of the Year, for 'Kiss My Country Ass.'

Sugarland's 'Stuck Like Glue' was named Duo Video of the Year, while Lady Antebellum are the Group Video of the Year winners for 'Hello World.' The Band Perry's two 2011 CMT honors are the USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year for 'If I Die Young,' and the Nationwide Insurance On Your Side Award.
