Louisiana native CJ Solar is letting The Boot readers see the music video for his latest single, "Tall Boy," first in this exclusive premiere.

"Tall Boy" is the first single from Solar's debut EP, Hard One to Turn Down, which will be released on April 15. The song is an upbeat, energetic tune that pays homage to everything a beer can do -- especially during a breakup -- and is a tongue-in-cheek ode to getting over a girl.

"So order up a tall boy / ’Cause it makes you feel tall, boy," Solar sings. "Don't worry at all, boy / It's gonna be alright."

The "Tall Boy" music video is a live clip of Solar and his band performing the song at Nashville's Whiskey Jam; the track's energy correlates well with the magnetism that comes from playing live. "Tall Boy" and its video also foreshadow what's to come on Hard One to Turn Down: Solar co-wrote all five tracks on the EP with the goal of creating a product that sounds just like his live performances.

"... I played the bulk of the rhythm parts and all of the guitar solos, just how I play them live," the artist explains. "I love the way it sounds, and it might not sound like everything else in Nashville, but it sounds like me.”

Country music fans who haven't heard Solar's music before still might recognize his name: He co-wrote Jerrod Niemann's recent single, "Blue Bandana," with Ben Goldsmith and Andrew Scott Wills. Niemann is featured on Solar's new disc as well.

Solar will spend his summer on the road, at festivals as well as opening dates for the Cadillac Three, Michael Ray, the Randy Rogers Band and Tyler Farr. For information on upcoming shows, visit CJSolar.com.

"Tall Boy" is available for streaming via Spotify.
