Chris Young is only a couple of weeks into his Liquid Neon tour, but he is already being forced to take a few days off, per doctor's orders. The singer has been placed on vocal rest for several days, requiring him to postpone his scheduled shows this week in Huntsville, Ala., Savannah, Ga., and Chattanooga, Tenn.

"I hate to disappoint everybody, but my voice is pretty ragged out," Chris shares on his website. "Thanks for understanding and I look forward to seeing y'all next year."

Hopefully, the "I Can Take It From There" singer will be well enough to head to Las Vegas for the American Country Awards this Monday (December 10). Chris is nominated for two ACAs, and is also scheduled to appear during the live broadcast. It's an event he says he doesn't want to miss.

"I think if you just look at the numbers on the awards shows, it's important. It's exposure," he told The Boot and other reporters at a recent media event. "Anytime as a country artist we can be on television and marry music to faces to names, it helps people find out not only about country music in general, but also about certain artists, certain songs. Somebody might be watching that just happens to see someone they never saw before and go, 'I need to go buy their record on iTunes.' ... The more opportunity we have to get on TV, the better."

Tickets for the canceled shows will be honored at the new dates, which will be announced shortly. Fans unable to attend the rescheduled concert can get a full refund at the point of purchase. Chris' next scheduled show on his Liquid Neon tour, which includes Thomas Rhett and Joanna Smith as opening acts, will be on December 11 at the NFR Cowboy FanFest in Las Vegas. The American Country Awards will air live on Monday, Dec. 10 at 8:00 PM ET on FOX.
