Just days after Chris Young underwent surgery on his left hand, it appears his condition is improving.

Young was forced to bow out of several of his planned appearances during last week's CMA Music Festival after accidentally cutting his hand with a kitchen knife while preparing a late dinner after returning home from his fan club party Thursday night (June 5).

He was forced to cancel an autograph session scheduled for Friday, and instead underwent surgery to repair tendons on his left hand, which also caused the 28-year-old star to cancel his performance at LP Field on Saturday night.

According to his mother, Becky Harris, the singer is showing signs of improvement.

In an email over the weekend, Young's publicist told The Boot his team are hopeful his doctors will clear him to return to performing this week. He is scheduled to spend much of the summer on the road with Dierks Bentley on the Riser Tour, promoting his most recent album, ‘A.M.’ See a list of his scheduled appearances here.

UPDATE: In a social media post Tuesday afternoon (June 10), Young appeared to confirm that he will be returning to performing later this week.
