In June 2012, Chris Young promised his fan club members that he would raise money to support Stars for Stripes, a non-profit that provides celebrity entertainment to US troops serving overseas.

Young made good on that promise after closing his campaign with a sold out show at House of Blues in Los Angeles on Sept. 30. He raised over $35,000 for the organization, which will supplement 2012 and 2013 tours to the Pacific Rim, Europe and Afghanistan.

In 2009, Young joined Craig Morgan in a tour of military bases in Iraq and Kuwait and became involved with Stars for Stripes. The trip was filmed by Great American Country for the television special ‘Stars for Stripes -- Wounded Warriors Return.’

“As someone who has been overseas to entertain troops in a combat zone, [Young] realizes how important celebrity visits are to the morale of our military stationed abroad,” says Stars and Stripes President Judy Seale in a press release. “He has been an amazing ambassador for Stars for Stripes and a tireless supporter of our military men and women."

Young has been a member of the organization’s Board of Directors since 2010, and took a second tour to Iraq and Kuwait in 2011.
