Chris Young has canceled his planned appearance at the CMA Music Festival on Saturday night (June 7).

The singer cut his hand with a kitchen knife on Thursday night while making dinner after returning home late from his annual fan club party. He was forced to cancel an autograph session scheduled for Friday, but had initially planned to go ahead with his performance on Saturday.

However, the 28-year-old singer was forced to cancel the appearance at Nashville's LP Field after undergoing surgery on Friday to repair damaged tendons in his left hand. Young was released from the hospital on Saturday morning, but will be unable to perform.

According to a statement from his publicist, Young -- whose latest single, 'Who I Am With You,' is currently climbing the charts -- is expected to make a full recovery, and will be able to return to playing guitar after rehabilitation.

Young is scheduled to spend much of the summer on the road with Dierks Bentley on the Riser Tour, promoting his most recent album, ‘A.M.’ See a list of his upcoming appearances here.
