Chris Stapleton teamed up with the legendary Emmylou Harris for a heartfelt tribute to the late Tom Petty at the 2018 Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Jan. 28). The pair collaborated on a simple and stripped-down cover of "Wildflowers" to introduce the In Memoriam segment of the telecast, which featured photos of artists who died throughout the last year.

Stapleton and Harris stood together on a circular stage separated from the main stage, both strumming acoustic guitars. Their voices blended perfectly in subtle harmony, which suited the gentle tune, which is found on Petty's 1994 album of the same name. Behind them on the stage, photos of colorful flowers were projected on the screen. The In Memoriam segment featured photos of several prominent country music artists who recently passed, including Glen Campbell, Troy Gentry, Don Williams, Mel Tillis and Gregg Allman.

Harris, who has won 13 Grammy Awards, most recently for 2014's Old Yellow Moon, was honored with a Grammys Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's ceremony. Stapleton, meanwhile, won a total of three Grammys in 2018: Best Country Solo Performance for his song "Either Way," and Best Country Album for From a Room: Volume 1. He also won a songwriting award, Best Country Song, for the song "Broken Halos." Stapleton shared the latter with his former SteelDrivers bandmate Mike Henderson.

Petty passed away on Oct. 2 at the age of 66. Htis unexpected death spawned tributes from Kip Moore, Jason Aldean and Stapleton, among others.
