Country singer Chris Cagle has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

ABC News reports that Cagle, 45, was pulled over early Sunday (Dec. 15) near Greenville, Texas, 50 miles northeast of Dallas.  According to Hunt County jail records, Cagle was no longer in custody as of Tuesday (Dec. 17). The sheriff's office has provided no further information on the arrest.

Cagle made his debut with 'Play It Loud' in 2000, and has since had a roller coaster career that includes hit singles, as well as disappointments and multiple stalled label deals. His hits include 'Chicks Dig It,' 'Laredo' and 'I Breathe In, I Breathe Out.' His most recent album, 'Back in the Saddle,' was released in 2012.

The singer has had his share of personal troubles as well, including a painful breakup after his then-girlfriend gave birth to another man's child, and forced time off to recover from growths on his vocal cords.

In December of 2007, Cagle was arrested and charged with assault after a fight with the boyfriend of a female fan who became belligerent after the singer reportedly refused to sign an autograph.

In May of 2008, Cagle called himself “one of the most insecure people in the world" in an interview with The Boot, adding, “I think I became a singer because of insecurity, because you want attention and you want approval."

At that time, Cagle said he had given up both smoking and drinking.

Just weeks later, he and his girlfriend were arrested on domestic assault charges. Police said the couple had been drinking prior to the altercation.

Neither Cagle nor his representatives have commented publicly on his latest arrest.
