Pistol Annies, Civil Wars Featured on New Chieftains CD
Critically-acclaimed trio Pistol Annies and folk-country duo Civil Wars have collaborated with traditional Irish band the Chieftains on ‘Voice of Ages,’ a new album to commemorate the group’s 50th anniversary.
The disc, which is set for release on Feb. 21, features a new tune written and recorded by the Civil Wars (Joy Williams and John Paul White) called ‘Lily Love,’ which was co-produced by T Bone Burnett and the Chieftains’ Paddy Moloney.
“What a treat to have such wonderful artists in Joy and John Paul and to have them write a song to celebrate the Chieftains’ 50th anniversary album,” Paddy Moloney tells Rolling Stone. “I couldn’t be more pleased. In the ‘Lily Love’ melody, I can hear strains of the Irishness of it, and to play, arrange and add my thoughts to it just came naturally.”
