After a successful crowdfunding campaign, fans can look forward to new music from Chely Wright this fall.

Announced via Wright’s PledgeMusic page on Kickstarter, the artist has partnered with New York City’s Megaforce Records to release I Am The Rain in September of 2016. “I could not be more satisfied and thrilled,” Wright wrote to fans. “If I could call all 2,265 of you on the phone to tell you this great news, I would! Hopefully, I'll see a lot of you on the road and I can thank you in person.”

I Am The Rain was produced by Joe Henry, who’s worked with a number of country legends, including Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell. The album is Wright’s first since 2010, and comes more than fifteen years after she first hit No. 1 on the country charts with “Single White Female” in 1994.

Wright hit her crowdfunding target in October 2014, exceeding her original target of $175,000 by raising more than $247,000 to complete the album. At the time, Wright planned she would use the funds from the campaign’s stretch goal to head out on tour.

No official launch date for the album or tour dates have yet been announced, but it is exciting to know that there is music from a talent like Chely Wright on the way.
