Chase Rice has struck gold with the title track of his debut EP, 'Ready Set Roll.' The song, which is the second single from the project, has earned gold status, signifying sales in excess of 500,000 units.

“I remember the day we wrote ‘Ready Set Roll,’ the first time I ever wrote with Chris DeStefano and Rhett Akins, and I just had the feeling that, ‘Man, this song could be huge,’” Rice recalls. “There’s just something about this song that works for me, whether people do or don’t like it -- for me, there’s something special about it. And hopefully I was right about that, because now I’ve got my first Gold record.”

Rice released the album as an independent artist, in promotional partnership with Columbia Records.

“That’s unbelievable to me, as an independent artist -- we’ve got Columbia pushing [‘Ready Set Roll’] up the charts -- but to do it the way we’ve done it, underground, without a label, having so many people tell me I was crazy for how I was doing it -- to do it that way and now to have a Gold record is unbelievable,” Rice gushes. “And this song still has a lot of life left on it -- hopefully we can go for Platinum now!”

The singer-songwriter, who co-wrote Florida Georgia Line's chart-topping hit, 'Cruise,' as well, has another lofty goal for the tune.

“I’d love to have my own No. 1 as an artist, as far as music goes,” Rice notes. “I’ve had it as a writer now, and I’d like to have it as an artist. Simple as that. I think ‘Ready Set Roll’ can do it. I don’t know what country radio is going to do with it. I have no idea. But I know they’ve taken it in so far and it’s been a solid start. It may take all year to get there, but I’d like to hang on to ‘Ready Set Roll’ and get it up in front of everyone else.”

Rice, who will release his first full-length album, 'Ignite the Night,' in August, is also performing several solo shows this summer, as well as crossing the country as an opening act on Dierks Bentley's Riser Tour. See all of his upcoming shows here, and download 'Ready Set Roll' here.
