Carrie Underwood to Sing ‘Sunday Night Football’ Theme Again in 2015-2016
Once again, every Sunday night during the 2015-2016 NFL season, football fans will be able to hear Carrie Underwood belting out the familiar words of "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night." The country star is reprising her role for the third season and just filmed a new version of the theme song.
Sunday Night Football shared photos of the filming on social media on Monday (June 22), giving fans a sneak peek of what they'll be seeing on their TV screens in just a few short months. Underwood is dressed in a sparkly silver mini-dress that shows off her legs -- which, frankly, put the league's in-shape players to shame, and are accentuated by sexy black heels. Her blonde hair is in waves.
"Great to have @carrieunderwood back for another season of #SNF," they write.
"Had so much fun shooting this yesterday!" Underwood adds.
SNF also gave a behind-the-scenes look at the "Little Toy Guns" hitmaker in a photo that shows Underwood on monitors during filming; it's captioned, "The one & only @carrieunderwood takes the stage for our new open! #SNF."
According to Rolling Stone Country, Underwood is joined by some of the NFL's top players in the new video, including Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants, Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys, Kam Chancellor of the Seattle Seahawks, Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts, Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers, DeMarco Murray of the Philadelphia Eagles and Patrick Peterson of the Arizona Cardinals.
Underwood took over Faith Hill's Sunday Night Football responsibilities in 2013 and was extremely excited to be asked back again last year.
“I love football. I’m honored they asked me to kick it off," she says. "Hopefully when people hear the song, they’ll just feel ready for the big game!”
Underwood also filmed a special version of the theme song for the 2015 Super Bowl, called "Waiting All Day for a Super Bowl Fight."
Fans can first see Underwood's new version of the Sunday Night Football opening theme on Sept. 10, when the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the New England Patriots on NBC.
