Backstage at the 2018 CMA Awards, country superstar and the evening's co-host Carrie Underwood explained that she was excited to return to her tradition of making many costume changes over the course of the evening, even during her pregnancy.

"The wardrobe is definitely a challenge when you don't recognize your own body, but I have the most incredible stylist," she related. "I feel kind of bad for returning dresses that are not maternity dresses all stretched out in the middle."

Underwood added that even though she enjoyed her return to hosting, despite the added challenge of going through several different looks while pregnant, she was excited to go home and relax. "I'm gonna put my jammies on," she noted with a laugh.

The singer achieved a series of milestones in 2018, most recently including her CMA win in the category of Female Vocalist of the Year, but Underwood says her role as a parent is an accomplishment that she prizes just as highly as any of her accolades as an artist. "I'm a working mom, a working wife," she explained, joking admitting that her job is "kind of a weird one."

The evening had its share of lighthearted moments for Underwood, including the comedic banter in her monologue with co-host Brad Paisley. However, she got emotional when discussing her child and his soon-to-be younger brother, whose gender she revealed onstage during the ceremony.

"I'm honored to hold some incredible titles, and Mom is definitely one of them," Underwood said with tears in her eyes.
