As Carrie Underwood's career has taken off over the last decade, she's had the chance to work with a lot of her idols, both in and out of country music.

Underwood says that she's had a great time working within the genre with people like Miranda Lambert and Willie Nelson, but she's also had the opportunity to step outside of country music and work with some high-end mainstream artists.

"I also got to do some stuff that was kind of unexpected… I got to sing with Steven Tyler, Tony Bennett. I got to be part of Stand Up To Cancer with Beyonce and Rihanna," she tells Billboard. "Things like that are really really special, kind of random and really amazing."

Crossing genres for collaboration is great for Underwood, but she says that the other artists also enjoy seeing the country side of things.

"It's cool to see the appreciation that artists outside of country music have for country music," she says. "They'll always sit down with me and they'll talk and they'll tell me their favorite people… I feel so honored to sing with them, and they feel so honored to be in the country music world as well."

Underwood's 'Greatest Hits: Decade #1' recently hit No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. The album is available for download on Amazon and iTunes.
