Southern rock band Buffalo Clover are releasing not one, but two albums this August. The group, headed by married couple Margo Price and Jeremy Ivey, will release their sophomore album, 'Test Your Love,' on Aug. 12, as well as their live album, 'Live at the Five.'

The group recorded their debut album, 'Low Down Time,' in 2010, while Price was pregnant with twin boys. Unfortunately, the parents-to-be discovered one of their boys had a rare heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, which gave him only half of a heart. Both sons were born the week of July 4, 2010, with their ailing son, Ezra, tragically passing away one week later.

“We didn't write about it at all, not for at least a year," Price says. "We were so angry and self-destructive. Music was the only thing that was a powerful enough a distraction, so singing about it wasn't something that was easy. Eventually it started creeping up in songs, but often our language comes out a little abstract at times. I would say 'Hey Child' and 'Misery' from 'Test Your Love' are vaguely about the experience, but ‘Don't Fade Away’ and ‘Sparrow’ from the live album are more direct.”

After taking a hiatus from the band, the couple emerged ready to write, perform and record again.

“I just think that if you’re going to stand up and sing in front of people, you should have something to say, something to give back, or at least something that people can relate to," she adds. "Life is not all roses."

'Live at the Five' is the first live album recorded in East Nashville venue the Five Spot, where Buffalo Clover got their start. The record includes mostly songs written in hotel rooms while the band were touring the country.

“[There are] no overdubs, no effects, no tricks," Price notes. "A lot of people say we are better live than recorded, I don't know that it's better, but it's better in a different way. The whole night was magical. I joked the next day that it felt like my wedding. “

Both Brittany Howard from Alabama Shakes and the Nashville Horns appear on select tracks on 'Test Your Love.'

Following the release of the two albums, Buffalo Clover plan to tour throughout the remainder of the year. Tour updates and album purchases will both be available here.
