Bucky Covington and his fiancee are expecting their first child together.

The 36-year-old former 'American Idol' contestant and his bride-to-be, Katherine Cook, broke the news on Thursday (Feb. 13). Cook is a publicist with Nashville based Monarch Publicity. The couple met in early 2007, and got engaged in 2010.

“Katherine came and threw a pregnancy test in front of me -- three of them actually -- and they all said the same thing. The only problem was I didn’t know what they were! I was like, ‘What is this? Are you okay?’” Covington tells People. “So she told me and I got so excited!”

Covington placed in the Top 10 on the fifth season of 'Idol,' and subsequently released a self-titled album that debuted at No. 1 and became the top-selling debut by any country artist in 2007, placing three Top 10 singles.

His most recent single, 'Drinking Side of Country,' garnered more than two million views on YouTube in just two days after it was released, with a video featuring guest appearances by Kellie Pickler, freestyle motocross rider Cowboy Kenny Bartram, and TNA wrestler Mickie James. The track is a duet with Shooter Jennings.

The singer is currently in the studio working on new music, and co-producing an upcoming project alongside Grammy-nominated producer Dale Oliver. He and Cook are looking forward to finding out the sex of their baby soon.

“We are so excited to share this news with friends and family! Expecting a child really puts things into perspective," he shares in a press release. "I hope the baby gets my legs, and her patience! Haha!”

Congratulations to the happy couple!
