Salemburg, N.C., native Brittany McLamb is giving readers of The Boot the first look at her music video for "Dollhouse." The clip will resonate with anyone who finds that life isn't as idyllic as they had hoped it would be in their younger years.

"Dollhouse" was written by Courtney Cole, Marla Cannon Goodman and Michael Davey. The ballad, McLamb's second single, is brutally honest about life and its sometimes-harrowing reality.

"Outside, the little red door / White picket fence with a swing on the porch / Front yard perfectly trimmed / Everything's roses until you look in," McLamb sings in the song's first verse. "Paper and paint peeling off of the walls / Empty-eyed faces in frames down the hall / Life's going on, but the love is turned off / No, this ain't the dream that I saw / It's not at all like my dollhouse."

Throughout the music video for "Dollhouse," McLamb is shown walking through a beautiful -- but empty -- house. Scenes of a little girl playing with a picture-perfect dollhouse are interspersed, and the two contrasting images pair perfectly with the song's lyrics.

The dollhouse shown in the clip isn't McLamb's own childhood treasure, but it's pretty darn close.

“When I was little, I was obsessed with decorating my dollhouse just right," McLamb recalls, so she began searching for dollhouses on eBay and, after ordering one, took on the task of recreating her own childhood dollhouse. "It was important to me to capture the beauty of that memory in this video."

For country fans familiar with McLamb's previous single, "Drop That Hoe," "Dollhouse" is a surprise -- but in a good way.

""Dollhouse" is a ballad, and I am a sucker for ballads," McLamb gushes. “The song describes the perfect dollhouse, and as a kid, that’s what you imagine that you’ll have one day. As you get older, you realize things aren’t quite as put together and perfect as you dreamed they would be when you were little playing with your dollhouse."

Fans of the video and the song can buy "Dollhouse" on iTunes and Amazon.
