After winning the CMA Award for New Artist of the YearBrett Eldredge is joining the Country Music Association's board of directors.

Eldredge joins Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild as one of the board's artist members. The CMA's board of directors is made up of executives from all branches of the country music industry. Other artists who serve as directors at large include Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Kix Brooks and Chris Young.

Among other duties, the board oversees the process of putting together the CMA Music Festival and the CMA Awards.

Eldredge beat out Brandy ClarkKip MooreThomas Rhett and Cole Swindell to take home the 2014 CMA Award for New Artist of the Year, sharing a memory of his first CMA Awards show during his acceptance speech.

“I remember a few years ago, I got here so early. I went out there to sit, and I was the only person sitting down here,” he said. “I was so excited. I was just dreaming what it would be like to be up here.”

Eldredge's tenure on the board of directors begins on Jan. 1, 2015.
