Brantley Gilbert is getting hitched. The 29-year-old made the exciting announcement on Tuesday morning (Oct. 21).

He called in to the Bobby Bones Show and broke his news, and get this - Gilbert's future wife has actually been in his life for quite a while, the better part of a decade. "I met this little girl 10 years ago. You'll hear her in most of my songs," he admits with a notable sound of lovestruck adoration in his voice.

However, he explains that their relationship was on and off for a few years, and while it was mostly on, they just couldn't make it work. "She was the one who got away for about five years," Gilbert admits, adding, "I can honestly say I've never been happier."

Fans will hear her influence all over his songs; he names 'More Than Miles' as one of the songs written about her, and the lyrics are pretty sweet. "Cause that girl's in every song I sing / She's in every song I write / And that six string ridin' in her seat / Won't keep me warm tonight."

The 'Small Town Throwdown' hitmaker says that although no wedding date has been set, the happy couple expect to wed at the end of June. Perhaps that timing is due to her job, since she's a teacher. "It's an awesome thing ... she loves teaching," Gilbert says, adding that she'll probably teach for at least one more year. "She's the one; I'm pretty excited to say the least," he concludes.

This is not the first time Gilbert has gotten down on one knee for a girl; he was previously engaged to country singer Jana Kramer. They broke off their engagement last summer after almost one year together.

And, at least from Gilbert's point of view, there are no hard feelings. He opened up about their breakup, saying, "I love her to death. I care about her. She’s going to make somebody a wonderful, wonderful wife, and a wonderful, wonderful mother. But between she and I, the situation does exist where it just didn’t work. And that’s the case. Some things happened and it didn’t work out. But we still talk. I think the world of her. She’s one of the most genuine people I know. And that’s the honest to God truth. I think the world of that little girl.”
