Brad Paisley Endows Scholarship at Belmont University

Brad Paisley is among the growing number of country artists who benefited from a formal education at Nashville’s Belmont University. Now, the former student, who graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, is giving back, having recently established the Brad Paisley Endowed Scholarship at his alma mater. The scholarship will provide financial assistance for a deserving student with demonstrated need who is studying in the Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business.

“I’ve often said that the best course of education for a young person wanting to pursue country music is to go to college at Belmont,” Brad notes in a statement on the university’s website. “I speak from experience. I wouldn’t be in any position to offer a scholarship if I had not gone to Belmont — this is the least I can do in appreciation.”

During his Belmont career, Brad was the recipient of a scholarship supported by his future Grand Ole Opry castmate Vince Gill. In 2003, Brad received Belmont’s Distinguished Alumni Award. Trisha Yearwood, Josh Turner, Lee Ann Womack, Sarah Buxton and Julie Roberts are among the school’s other well-known alumni. Sarah Cannon, a/k/a Minnie Pearl was a graduate of the school’s predecessor, Ward-Belmont College.
