Country fans know the name Audra Mae thanks to Miranda Lambert's hit "Little Red Wagon," which Mae penned and originally sang herself. Mae is also a talented artist in her own right, and she and Bob Thiele & the Forest Rangers are premiering their new song, "A Goodbye," exclusively with The Boot.

Bob Thiele & the Forest Rangers are the group behind the music of the TV drama Sons of Anarchy, which aired on FX for seven successful seasons. The show ended in 2014, but now, the group is releasing an album, Land Ho! The record, their debut project, is an 11-track collection recorded during Sons of Anarchy's final season and featuring numerous guest vocalists, including Mae.

Thiele co-wrote all of the songs on Land Ho!, and Mae also helped co-write "A Goodbye." She tells The Boot that the tune is "a way of telling SOA fans that even though the show is over, it'll never be forgotten."

The song's lyrics are direct, and Mae's gritty vocals are sentimental without being saccharine. The song itself rocks and rolls, as Mae sings, "Even when the hurting shows / It still takes a while to know that / There ain't no such thing as a goodbye / Even when the loving goes / And you get moving down the road / Well, it still ain't no such thing as goodbye."

"I’ve loved working with Audra, ever since we did “Forever Young” for the first season of Sons of Anarchy, and watching her success grow since then has been truly great," Thiele raves. "I’m happy that we’ve got "A Goodbye" to add to the list of songs we’ve collaborated on!”

Land Ho! is set for release on July 10 via InGrooves. Mae, meanwhile, is keeping busy on the songwriting front; she co-wrote Kelly Clarkson‘s recent single, "Heartbeat Song," and is working with the Band Perry on their new album as well.
