"Got a heart lost in kindness / A mind that's mostly mindless / I can hold you up for air / I won't let you down I swear" -- lyrics from 'Honeypot' by Bob Schneider

It's not often you hear a love song that's also a bit self-deprecating, but those lyrics fit eccentric singer/songwriter Bob Schneider to a tee. "You get this idea that somehow love makes things better," the musician tells The Boot of the idea behind his new song, 'Honeypot.' "It's an outdated idea that all the intellectual signs point towards not being true, but I still cling to it."

The song is from the 24-time Austin Music Award winner's latest album, 'A Perfect Day.' Watch its accompanying video below, featuring Bob and his band jamming to the blues-fueled track, along with scenes of everyday people in different settings singing along.

'Honeypot' follows Bob's latest radio hit, 'Let the Light In.' The singer/songwriter says he never knows whether or not mainstream radio will embrace his songs ... nor does he really care to tailor his writing to what's deemed 'radio-friendly.'

"I never even think about whether the song is good or not, or if it has some commercial value at all," he admits. "Any time I try to write a great song or a radio hit, I think nothing will stop the creative process quicker than that. I try to write stuff that's interesting to me ... not necessarily caring if anyone else is going to like it. To entertain myself, I like to make songs kinda quirky. I like out of the ordinary; I come out of left field."
