Blake Shelton Teams With Ryman Hospitality for Nashville, Tishomingo Bars
Blake Shelton and Ryman Hospitality Properties (which owns the Grand Ole Opry and the Ryman Auditorium) have formed a partnership to open two entertainment venues, both named Ole Red, in Nashville, Tenn., and Tishomingo, Okla.
Plans for the Ole Red locations were revealed during a press conference at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Thursday (Jan. 5). The 26,000-square-foot Nashville location will be on Lower Broadway, and feature a 6,000-square-foot outdoor roof bar, a live performance space (for live band karaoke, showcases, small concerts and more), a restaurant, a dance floor, VIP booths and a number of other amenities; Shelton and the team are hoping to open that venue in April of 2018.
The Tishomingo Ole Red location, meanwhile, will be situated on Main Street, in a former dentist’s office and the building that used to house his ex-wife Miranda Lambert‘s Pink Pistol boutique. Shelton purchased the dentist’s office three years ago and bought the former Pink Pistol in 2016, after Lambert closed the store; he filmed his “She’s Got a Way With Words” music video there. That location should be open in October.
“It’s amazing to me to see a song that’s been such a big part of my career come to life in the plans for Ole Red. Nashville and Tishomingo are both places that are important to me, and it’s great that each location is going to have its own personality inspired by one of my favorite songs,” Shelton says. “It’s always been a dream of mine to create something like this where people know they’re going to have a good time as soon as they walk in the door, and I couldn’t be more excited that my friends at the Opry and Ryman Hospitality Properties are making it happen.”
The name Ole Red comes from “Ol’ Red,” Shelton’s 2002 hit; “Ol'” was changed to “Ole” to represent the Opry’s involvement. Shelton said during the press conference that he intends to check in on both locations, both live and via video technology, whenever he can.
“I don’t think there is a point to it if I don’t,” he explained.
