Life definitely does imitate art, especially in Blake Shelton's family.

The singer's mother, Dorothy Shackleford, just released her first novel, 'Time for Me to Come Home.' The story is about a country singer from Oklahoma, named Heath Sawyer, who returns to Oklahoma for the holidays after selling out a show at Madison Square Gardens. While the story is fictitious, she includes plenty of true holiday memories of the mother and son.

The proud son even helped his mom with a little promotion.

"So cool to be holding a book that my mom wrote!!! It comes out Tuesday the 29th. Get it!!" Shelton tweeted, along with a picture of the book cover.

This is not Shackleford's first foray into writing. Like her son, she has also written dozens of songs, including 'Time for Me to Come Home,' which she sings with him for his 2012 'Cheers, It's Christmas' album.

The book was released in October.  It is available here.
