Blake Shelton Responds to Lady A’s ‘All About Tonight’ Parody
Blake Shelton is the latest victim of what Lady Antebellum have dubbed “lady hazing.” Last month, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood posted ‘These Jeans Are Mighty Tight,’ a parody of Blake’s No.1 ‘All About Tonight‘ as their Webisode Wednesday. (Watch the video below.) This is the third installment of the spoofs, which started with ‘A Little More Preppy Than That,’ inspired by Easton Corbin‘s No.1 ‘A Little More Country Than That,’ and followed with ‘Biscuits and Gravy,’ to the tune of Lee Brice‘s ‘Love Like Crazy.’
Since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, The Boot wanted to see what Blake thought of the song. “I still haven’t seen it just because I couldn’t get it to download on my iPhone,” Blake admits to The Boot. “I get the jist of it though … these jeans are mighty tight!”
Can we expect Blake-ified version of ‘Need You Now‘ anytime soon? “I thought about doing a parody of one of their songs,” Blake continues. “Then I realized I’d have to sit down and actually listen to one of their songs first [laughs]. I’m having to muster up the patience to sit through one of their songs.”
Blake is kidding, of course. Teasing seems to be his sincerest form of flattery. Last week, the singer talked to The Boot about a comment Trace Adkins made on ‘Chelsea Lately‘ calling Blake “not very smart.”
“When somebody like Trace Adkins says I’m not very smart, it’s like a turtle telling a snail that it’s slow,” Blake told us with a laugh. “It means nothing to me.”
While Blake is known to be joker, he definitely has serious side, which was highlighted at his Grand Ole Opry induction this weekend.
Blake told the crowd that he hadn’t known how to respond when asked what it meant to be an Opry member, but he had the answer after stepping into the Opry’s circle, “It’s the same feeling I get when I meet one of my heroes,” Blake said. “To me, the Grand Ole Opry is an artist, and I’m proud to be one of its songs.”
Blake is currently on the road. He’s playing Salem, Va. October 29 and Panama City, Fla. November 7. (Details here.) His first greatest hits package ‘Loaded: The Best of Blake Shelton’ hits stores November 9.
