Blake Shelton and Jimmy Fallon are clearly kindred spirits who will do anything for a laugh ... Even wear a ridiculous chicken suit and perform a hit song entirely in clucks. That's what the two did on Thursday's "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon," along with two of the comedian's colleagues, creating a band called "the Chickeneers" to sing the Lumineers' "Ho Hey."

Later in the show, Blake (dressed as himself) performed "Sure Be Cool if You Did," the first single from his brand-new Based on a True Story... album, which hit stores earlier this week.

"I fell in love with that song the first time I heard it," the country superstar tells The Boot. "I love the idea that it's basically a pickup line. It has a sexy, romantic feel to it. You can almost picture yourself there in that bar. But my favorite thing about the song is the way we were able to incorporate different sounds that I've never really experimented with before on a record, with loops, snaps and claps. That's taking a big step for me ... you know how backwards I am!"
