In advance of their performance on The Voice on Monday night (May 9), Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have shared their new duet, "Go Ahead and Break My Heart."

The uptempo love song, which readers can hear a snippet of below, features the couple trading verses and harmonizing on the chorus: "Why don’t you go ahead and break my heart? / Why are you waiting, is it way too hard? / If moving on is what you want to do / Why don’t you do it? / Why don’t you do it, baby? / You can’t tell me, baby, that we’ll still be friends / That maybe someday we can try again / If you really need a brand-new start / Why don’t you go ahead and break my heart?"

"Go Ahead and Break My Heart" is one of 15 songs on Shelton's upcoming new album, If I'm Honest, which is set for release on May 20. The two will be performing the track on Monday's episode of The Voice; Stefani is Shelton's team mentor this season.

“As different as we are musically, we’re a fan of the same type of songs,” Shelton explains. “We have these playlists that we send each other that are stuff that we loved growing up, and they’re so similar, so I think it made it easy for us to collaborate.”

He adds, "The song’s important to us, and the fact that we wrote it together is so important to both of us.”

"Go Ahead and Break My Heart" is available for download on iTunes.
