In his first on-camera interview since his divorce from Miranda Lambert was announced, Blake Shelton has his eyes on the prize ... on The Voice, that is.

When the Entertainment Tonight cameras started rolling, Shelton nodded to the Solo cup in his hand, saying, "I thought I'd get it started early," and admitting that there was "a little vodka" in the cup. His reasoning for the hard stuff? "It's been one of those weeks."

It was clear from the camera angle that Shelton was not wearing his wedding ring, and when he was asked how he was doing, his response was simple: "Well, I got divorced."

However, most of the conversation was focused on what's ahead for the "Gonna" singer -- specifically, another season of coaching on The Voice. This time around, fellow country superstar Brad Paisley will help mentor Shelton's team, and it sounds like the "Crushin' It" hitmaker has made a big impact thus far.

"I'm afraid he's going to take my job," Shelton jokes. "He's good at this."

"I walk in here, I'm not drunk ..." Paisley (who doesn't drink) easily retorts.

"You're gonna have to work on that. If you're gonna fit in around here, you're going to have to start abusing yourself a little," Shelton interjects, to which Paisley replies, "I need to be a little less professional, maybe, if I'm going to fit in."

Shelton is excited about his team this season, and he says that he thinks he's got a good chance at winning.

"I want the trophy bad. They don't hire me to be on here to lose, you know what I'm saying?" he asks. "I want to win this thing every season, and I want it for my kids that are on my team."

Shelton has won the show four times thus far, and he's looking for another win -- this time with Paisley assisting.

"Superstars don't come out of the music industry, period, that often. Once every few years somebody erupts ... The odds of it happening on a show are astronomical," Shelton adds. "This show is about learning ... and experience, and building the fan base out there. And it's also about the coaches giving each other crap."

With his name behind winning acts including Jermaine Paul, Cassadee Pope, Danielle Bradbery and Craig Wayne Boyd, as well as Season 8 runner-up Meghan Linsey, Shelton has a knack for picking out stars. Will he reach his goal again this year? Season 9 of The Voice premieres on Sept. 21 on NBC.
