Blake Shelton performed his newest single, "Came Here to Forget," at Sunday night's (April 3) 2016 ACM Awards.

After seeming to surprise host Luke Bryan by joining him onstage in the middle of his performance of "Huntin', Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day," Shelton transitioned immediately into his own performance, after helping Bryan finish his song.

Shelton performed his newest single -- ostensibly a nod to his recent divorce from Miranda Lambert and new relationship with Gwen Stefani -- to a black-and-white backdrop of ocean waves breaking on rocks. Even his backing band was cast in shades of gray, with only Shelton in full color.

"Came Here to Forget" is the first single from Shelton's upcoming album, If I'm Honest. Written by Craig Wiseman and Deric Ruttan, the song is something Shelton calls "a direct look into my life."

"Came Here to Forget" is available for download on iTunes. If I'm Honest is set for release on May 20.
