Billy Ray Cyrus and Kellie Pickler are planning their returns to the small screen, both in new series on CMT.

Cyrus, who starred in Doc from 2001 to 2004, will serve as the executive producer, writer and star of a new scripted show, Still the King. Pickler, who came in sixth on American Idol in 2006 and won Dancing With the Stars in 2013, is getting her own reality show, tentatively called I Love Kellie Pickler.

Still the King is being produced by Hideout Pictures, a division of the Average Joes Entertainment record label. The show is described as a scripted comedy, with Cyrus playing Vernon Brown, aka Burnin' Vernon, a "scandal-ridden, washed-up one-hit wonder" who is banished from country music and, 20 years later, is "the second-best Elvis Presley impersonator in Laughlin, Nev." After Brown drunkenly crashes into a Nashville-area church, he's required to perform community service in Music City, and while he's there, he pretends to be the congregation's new minister -- and discovers that he has a 15-year-old daughter.

I Love Kellie Pickler is being produced by Ryan Seacrest, with Pickler and her husband, songwriter Kyle Jacobs, co-producing.

"I've been offered reality shows since Idol," Pickler tells Rolling Stone Country. "With Ryan, it just felt right. We've been talking about it for years and just have never made it a priority."

The show will focus more on Pickler's life with her husband rather than on her music.

"We laugh so much," Pickler says. "We have Redneck Supper Club dinner parties at our house and grill out. I was a huge fan of Lucille Ball and her funny shenanigans with Ethel that poor Ricky would have to get her out of. We want to play off that type of comedy — lighthearted but natural situations that I get into — and marry that with a Friends-type feel."

Still the King will debut early next year, while I Love Kellie Pickler is set to premiere on Sept. 18.
