POLL: Who Should Win Best Bluegrass Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards?

The 2017 Grammy Awards are just around the corner, and every category is full of strong contenders. Who do you think should win Best Bluegrass Album this year?

Blue Highway's 11th studio album, Original Traditional, nabbed the band its third Grammys nomination; they previously received nods for Best Bluegrass Album (for Marbletown) in 2005 and for Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album (for Wondrous Love) in 2004. Together since 1994, the band released Original Traditional on Sept. 9, 2016, via Rounder Records.

Seventy-two-year-old Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver's Burden Bearer is full of bluegrass, gospel and a cappella favorites. The group's Best Bluegrass Album nod in 2017 is its second consecutive Grammys nomination and seventh overall. Thanks to a catalog of more than 40 records, Lawson is a mainstay in the genre.

Inspired by the raw power of women who weren't afraid to write and sing about real life, on The Hazel and Alice Sessions, Laurie Lewis & the Right Hands recorded 13 of their favorite songs by the pioneering bluegrass duo Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerrard. The result is an honest, hard-edged take on bluegrass music that only the toughest female performers can bring.

Claire Lynch pays homage to Canadian songwriters on her 2016 album North By South, bringing in friends such as renowned banjo player Béla Fleck and dobro aficionado Jerry Douglas to help create the Grammy-nominated record. Considered one of the best voices in modern bluegrass music, Lynch was named the top female vocalist in 1997, 2010 and 2013 by the International Bluegrass Music Association.

When two-time Grammy award winner Mark O'Connor decided that it was time to make his 43rd album, he knew just the people to record it with: his family. Coming Home by the O'Connor Band with Mark O'Connor combines O'Connor's iconic fiddle playing with his wife Maggie's violin prowess, his son Forrest's mandolin skills and Forrest's fiancée Kate Lee's vocals. The album brings further depth to O'Connor's iconic bluegrass style and plays up the strengths of his son and soon-to-be daughter-in-law's songwriting skills.
