Ashley Monroe is sharing another song from her upcoming new album, The Blade. The singer has released "I Buried Your Live Alive," which she co-wrote with Matraca Berg, in advance of the record's July 24 release date.

The bluesy song, with lines like, "Woke up this morning in a cold, cold sweat / Heart broke and beating out of my chest / I cried out your name against my will / A memory I can't kill / I buried your love alive / I buried your love alive / I buried your love alive / Deep inside me, there's a shallow grave / That haunts me every day / I buried your love alive," is a perfect fit for the new set of tunes.

"I think every song on this record has an edge of some sort ... it cuts," Monroe tells People. "That's why I thought The Blade was a perfect title."

The title track is the only song on the record that Monroe didn't write, but she says it's the one that resonated with her the most.

“"The Blade" is such a special song to me,” she says. “I have been on the receiving end of that pain. It actually makes me physically hurt when I sing it … but in a good way.

“I’m so thankful to the writers of that song,” Monroe adds. “They talked about my heartbreak in a way that I’ve never heard. That’s hard to do.”

The debut single from the record, "On to Something Good," is steadily climbing the charts.
