In preparation for her upcoming solo release, Angaleena Presley is set to hit the road with the Indigo Girls for select dates this summer.

Presley is following in the footsteps of fellow Pistol Annies band mates Miranda Lambert and Ashley Monroe by breaking from the group to pursue a solo career. She will release 'American Middle Class' on Oct. 14 via Slate Creek Records. Presley co-produced the album with her husband, Jordan Powell.

“Part of what I loved about Garth Fundis and Jim Burnett at Slate Creek is that they understood where I wanted to go creatively,” she explains. “Producing this album was important to me because of its content. I’ve lived every word of it and knew exactly how I wanted it to sound.”

She will join the Indigo Girls starting on Aug. 11 in Ocean City, N.J., finishing up in Green Bay, Wis., on Sept. 12.

Presley is expected to announce a full solo tour in the coming days.

“Playing live is the ultimate connection for a songwriter,” she says. “You get to see first-hand how your songs affect someone and I love it.”
