The 2015 Americana Music Festival has doubled its lineup with the announcement of a huge amount of new performers.

Festival organizers have added 70 acts to the previously announced lineup of more than 80 artists, giving music fans a lot of tough choices when it comes to deciding who to see perform during the festival's six days. Newly announced performers include the Mavericks, Humming HouseRicky Skaggs and Sharon WhiteBuddy Miller, Jim Lauderdale, Ry CooderUncle Lucius, Sam Outlaw, the Good Lovelies, Eilen Jewell, Gill Landry and more.

"So much about this event is about discovery," Americana Music Association President Jed Hilly says. "You'll have these great moments involving the legends, like the time we saw Ry Cooder and John Hiatt reunite for the first time since Little Village broke up. That was cathartic ... But when you have more than 175 bands in town, you can go into any club any night of the week and see something that'll knock your socks off, even if you aren't familiar with the band on stage."

The new set of artists join previously announced headliners Lee Ann WomackPatty Griffin and Los Lobos, along with other performers including Randy Rogers and Wade BowenJames McMurtryBela Fleck and Abigail Washburn, Nora Jane Struthers, Billy Bragg and Joe Purdy, Jackie Greene, Lera Lynn, Mary Gauthier and others.

“Someone told me they appreciated what we do because we put unknown artists before people with the same energy as we do our biggest stars,” Hilly says. “I think there is a sense within the community that it’s about mastering a craft. It’s about musicianship and great songwriting … There’s a uniqueness to the artists, and I think the organization supports that. We’re not corporate-dominated. That’s pretty apparent. We curate our festival and conference lineup. It’s not label showcases.”

The 16th annual festival is set for Sept. 15-20 at various locations around Nashville. See a full lineup at AmericanaMusic.org.
