Amanda Watkins Kicks Off Saturday Lineup at Country Jam 2015

It was a first introduction between Amanda Watkins and most fans in the crowd on Saturday (June 20) at Country Jam, and she made a great first impression. The singer sounded great, and she could not have been any more adorable in her short jean shorts, white crop top and fringe vest.

"We took a long road trip to get here just to see you, and you guys are lookin' good!" she remarked as she took the stage.

The singer-songwriter began her set with a high-energy tune that included some boot-tappin' harmonica, followed by a song called "Country Side." Then, Watkins broke out one for the hardworking, blue-collar men and women called "The Bible" before launching into "Waitin."

"I love this song because I wrote it while I was waiting tables. The managers and bosses didn't know," she admitted, "but in my downtime, I had to write some songs, you know?!"

Formerly one half of the duo Miss Willie Brown (with Kacey Buckley), Watkins shared that she will release her very first solo single to radio in July. The song is called "If I Was Over You," and it's a duet with Jamey Johnson. For the Country Jam crowd, however, one of Watkins' band members, Cal Ecker, sang Johnson's parts.

"This is one of my favorite songs to cover because I love America!" Watkins said. Then came a cover of John Mellencamp's "Pink Houses." The audience was certainly diggin' her performance — when Watkins revealed that she was about to sing her last song for the day, fans screamed, "No!!!"

She wrapped her set with an upbeat tune called "Rodeo Queen," playing the ever-living heck out of her acoustic guitar. "Hopefully this gets your day going!" she said. Billy Currington and Tim McGraw will perform later tonight.
