It seems like bluegrass music is a good fit for Alan Jackson. The singer's first bluegrass album, appropriately titled 'The Bluegrass Album,' soared to No. 1 on Billboard's Bluegrass Album Sales chart after its Sept. 24 release, and has stayed at the top of the charts for an astonishing four months.

Jackson wrote eight of the 11 songs on the record, including 'Blue Ridge Mountain Song.' The tune's accompanying video, which stars his daughter, Ali, is the No. 1 video on GAC's Top 20 Country Countdown. But while the 55-year-old is thrilled with the success of the album, he insists he wasn't thinking of career accolades when he decided to make the record.

“I’m just a fan of the music,” he explains to The Boot. “I didn’t want to do something that disappointed the bluegrass world. I didn’t want ‘em to think I’m just another country act wanting to make a bluegrass album. I really wanted to try to write some songs that were a decent approach from a bluegrass perspective, and same way with the production and everything.”
