Country music legends in their own right, Alan Jackson and George Strait came together at the 2013 CMA Awards to pay homage to the great George Jones, who passed away on April 26, with a performance of Jones' hit 'He Stopped Loving Her Today.'

"This year, we lost the greatest country singer of all-time," host Brad Paisley announced at the start of the tribute before introducing Jackson and Strait. Both men wore cowboy hats and suit jackets on top of casual button-down shirts as they honored the late vocalist, a fixture on the country music charts for five decades.

Images of Jones rotated behind the singers while they traded lines on the 1980 Single of the Year. On a night of glitzy performances, the Jones tribute was a poignant display of traditional country music that earned some of the biggest cheers of the evening.

Jackson famously honored Jones at the 1999 CMAs by singing part of Jones' 'Choices' after Jones boycotted the ceremony because the CMAs refused to let him play the entire song.

Jones will be honored again on Nov. 22 with a tribute concert at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena featuring Paisley, Jackson, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Eric Church, Loretta Lynn, Martina McBride and numerous others.
