2015 American Music Awards Country Winners

Sam Hunt, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan were the big country winners at the 2015 American Music Awards on Sunday night (Nov. 22).

Hunt, the year's leading country nominee surprised even himself with a win in the all-genre New Artist of the Year category. Bryan was also nominated for an all-genre category, Artist of the Year, and although he lost out on that award to One Direction, the country superstar did take home Favorite Male Country Artist for the fourth time.

"Thank you so much for this; this is amazing ...," Bryan said while accepting his award from presenters Kelsea Ballerini and Florida Georgia Line. He thanked his wife "for letting me have fun every night," as well as his fans, management and "everybody that helps me take my show on the road and give it to my fans."

Underwood, meanwhile, won her third American Music Award for Favorite Female Country Artist. The trophy is her ninth overall AMA.

"Thank you so much. Thank you fans. I thank God for you and for country music and for all the blessings that I -- I just don't know how I'm on the stage right now, to be honest," Underwood said before recognizing her husband and son, as well as all of her management team -- "all of the people that I am just so blessed to have in my life."

FGL were awarded both Favorite Country Duo or Group and Favorite Country Album, although neither category was included in the awards show broadcast.

Other country nominees included Jason Aldean (Favorite Male Country Artist, Favorite Country Album), the Zac Brown Band (Favorite Country Duo or Group), Little Big Town (Favorite Country Duo or Group), Miranda Lambert (Favorite Female Country Artist) and Kelsea Ballerini (Favorite Female Country Artist). Country-turned-pop superstar Taylor Swift was the most-nominated artist at the 2015 American Music Awards; her name appeared in six categories.

AMAs nominations are based on key fan interactions, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring. The winners are voted entirely by fans.
