During the first season of 'The Voice,' Blake Shelton called upon Reba McEntire to mentor contestants on 'Team Blake.' As he readies for the second season of the show, has the Oklahoma native asked an 'American Idol' to give him a hand?

The New York Post reports that sources close to 'The Voice' are saying Kelly Clarkson will appear on the show in "late March or April" to offer guidance to those competing for Blake. The Texas native won the first season of 'American Idol' in 2002, but she has expressed love for the show's competition.

"The thing I love about 'The Voice' is that they're more mentors -- they're not judges," Kelly said in an interview last September. "I would never really want to be a judge, just because I don't want to break people's hearts."

She even admitted, "I so want to audition for 'The Voice' and see if I can get the chairs to turn around!"

This isn't the first Blake/Kelly connection this week. Over the holidays, Kelly got into hot water with her fans when she expressed support for Republican presidential nominee Ron Paul. After numerous negative comments from fans on Twitter, Blake came to her side, tweeting her, "I love you!!!! I'll listen to your view points anytime. And I really wouldn't mind throat punching someone for you either!!" To which she promptly replied, "Thanks," with a smiley face.

Blake and Kelly's friendship goes back several years, as both have the same management team: Reba's husband, Narvel Blackstock and his son, Brandon. Kelly was even a guest at Blake and Miranda Lambert's wedding last spring. Additionally, the 'Mr. Know It All' singer spent New Year's Eve in Oklahoma with Mr. and Mrs. Shelton, as well as Blake's fellow 'Voice' coach Adam Levine. See a pic of the festivities here.
