It was no surprise when Sugarland called Eric Church's name during the 46th Annual CMA Awards tonight (Nov. 1). His third album, Chief, broke sales records and garnered his first No. 1 single, "Drink In My Hand," which he followed with another chart-topper, "Springsteen."

"I spent a lot of my career, wondering where I fit in ... too country, too rock," Eric told the crowd, after thanking his wife, Katherine and son, Boone McCoy. "I want to thank you guys for giving me somewhere to hang my hat tonight. I appreciate it. Thank you."This is Eric's first-ever CMA award win. His platinum-selling Chief beat out albums by Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan and Lady Antebellum.
