The 2012 Canadian Country Music Awards is sure to be an international sensation with the announcement of this year's nominees and performers. Johnny Reid leads with eight nominations, including the Fans' Choice Award, Male Artist, Interactive Artist and Record Producer of the Year.

Several artists who have recorded and toured in the U.S. are also nominated. Terri Clark is up for three awards: Fans' Choice Award; Album of the Year for Roots and Wings; and Female Artist of the Year. Carolyn Dawn Johnson is also recognized in the Female Artist of the Year category, while Emerson Drive have a Group or Duo of the Year nod.

"All of today's nominees deserve ample recognition for their excellence as well as their tremendous contribution to Canadian country music," CCMA Executive Director Don Green said. "This year's nominees reflect the depth of musical talent in Canada, and we're so proud to be able to recognize those artists -- both established and emerging -- who have impacted Canadians with their music."

In addition to the prospect of awards, Johnny and Terri are also scheduled to perform during the Canadian-televised event. They join a long list of artists who will take the stage, including Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Pistol Annies, Eric Church, George Canyon and Paul Brandt.

The 2012 CCMA Awards will take place Sept. 9 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It will broadcast live on CBC Television for Canadian viewers, with encore airings on CMT Canada.
