Jake Owen to Go ‘Barefoot’ in August

"It is kind of ironic that my new album is being released on August 30, two days after I turn 30 and this is my third record," says Jake Owen, announcing the official release date of his 'Barefoot Blue Jean Night' CD. "This album is a big step for me and my career, and I can't wait for people to hear it."

The album's title track is the fastest-rising single of the Florida native's career, currently in the Top 20 (and rising) on the country charts and boasting more than 44,000 downloads to date. But it's another song on the project that Jake says he's particularly excited for fans to hear.

"I've got a song called 'Journey of Your Life' that means a lot to me," he tells The Boot. "It's just a song about life. I've had a pretty awesome journey and an awesome mom and dad. As rockin' as my record is, this one song really identifies me."

Jake hits the road today (June 16) on Keith Urban's Get Closer World tour. "I have always wanted to go out on the road with Keith," says Jake. "He really inspires me as a songwriter, musician and entertainer. Keith is the real deal and one of the most amazing talents our genre has ever seen."

The feeling is mutual. "I've always liked Jake," Keith said at a tour rehearsal in Nashville earlier this month. "A couple of years ago, I was talking with him about how I liked his music, liked his vibe and how I think our audience would like him, too. We were just trying to find the right time to bring him out, and this felt like a good time."
