Grammy-nominated group, the Greencards, headed up by Australians Carol Young and Kym Warner, are set to release their fifth album, thanks in part to contributions from their fans. Recording sessions for 'The Brick Album,' due out June 21 on the quartet's own Darling Street label, were funded by contributions to the band's "Buy a Brick" project. Each of the donor has had his or her name permanently inscribed on a brick within the wall that comprises the disc's cover art.

"The times have changed a lot in the music industry, not so much in the creative side but in business side of making music," says Kym. "We just wanted to give something unique and special to people, not just by sending them an early copy of the record by putting their names on the artwork. That makes them fully a part of it."

Also taking part in the actual making of music on 'The Brick Album' are Vince Gill and Sam Bush. Vince turns in guest vocals on the Marty Robbins-influenced 'Heart Fixer,' while Sam's slide mandolin can be heard on the disc's opener, 'Make It out West.'

The genre-defying group, whose albums have been a staple on the Americana chart and have also topped Billboard's bluegrass chart, welcome two new members into their ranks with the new album: Tyler Andal on fiddle and guitarist (and National Flatpicking Champion) Carl Miner.

"We've been striving for this since our first record," says mandolinist Kym. "We recorded totally in one room this time, with very little isolation. It was all about doing the performance now, without going back to add anything later on."

"What you're hearing is all one take," adds singer and bassist Carol. "If someone really didn't like what we'd done, we'd play it all again from the top rather than drop the part in. When you drop in a part, you lose a little bit of the feel. You've got to get a run-up to it."

'The Brick Album,' out June 21, is the follow-up to the group's 2009 disc, 'Fascination.'
