Laura Bell Bundy has been cast as an aspiring country singer in the pilot episode of 'Hound Dogs,' a new series for the TBS network. According to Variety, the 'Giddy on Up' singer's character in the proposed series is dating the rookie pitcher (played by Rob Mayes) of a fictitious Nashville baseball team whose players and general manager are dealing with a whole lot of personal issues off the field.

"I'm going to sleep WAY early for me. My call time for tomorrow is 5:30am! Yay! 1st day of shooting 'Hound Dogs' pilot. Bow wow wow!" Laura tweeted Wednesday night.

Laura has been acting on Broadway and in regional theater since the age of nine. She received a Tony Award nomination for her performance as Elle Woods in the Broadway show, 'Legally Blonde: The Musical,' and played Amber Von Tussle in the Tony Award winning musical, 'Hairspray.' She also played Glinda in the Broadway smash, 'Wicked.' Laura's album, 'Achin' and Shakin',' debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart in April 2010.

No word yet on when the pilot episode will air.
