Keith Urban recently announced he was hitting the road next year for his Get Closer world tour, in support of his latest album by the same name. Now the Aussie country superstar has added several new show dates that will take him north of the U.S. border.

Keith kicks off the Canadian leg of his tour on September 9, 2011, in the Canadian capital city of Ottawa, and he'll play nine dates across the country, including stops in Ontario, Winnipeg and Edmonton, before wrapping up in Vancouver September 26.

The Get Closer tour will officially kick off June 16 in Mobile, Ala., with Keith playing more than 40 shows stateside, including dates in Tampa, Charlotte, Boston, Philadelphia and Seattle. It's a journey the Grammy winner is eagerly anticipating.

"The beautiful thing about playing live is that everybody is in that moment, singing along," Keith tells The Boot. "There are total strangers singing with total strangers, the same song. It doesn't matter how many people, whether it's five or 50,000, it's people connecting and being in the moment. That's what it's all about."

Keith's new album, 'Get Closer,' which was released November 16, debuted at No. 2 on the charts. His first single, 'Put You In a Song,' from his latest CD is at No. 13 and climbing. See all his tour dates here.
