Gary Allan to Undergo Vocal Cord Surgery

Gary Allan has unfortunately had to cancel a couple of dates in December, owing to minor vocal cord surgery he'll undergo next month. His shows in Cherokee, N.C., December 11 and Las Vegas, Nev., December 31, will be rescheduled at a later date. Ticket holders have already received full refunds for those two shows. Gary's October and November dates will not be affected and will go on as planned.

The procedure to remove a polyp from his vocal cord will take place in late November. Gary, expected to have a full recovery, is set to resume his tour schedule in the middle of February.

The singer and his folks went directly to the fans first to let them know the news of the cancellation, because they wanted to make sure they were taken care of and didn't have to change their plans at the last minute; most especially, for his die-hard fans who were already making plans to purchase airline tickets and book hotel rooms for the singer's New Year's Eve show in Vegas.

The following is the email sent out by Gary's manager, John Lytle, to the fans planning to attend the December shows:

Dear Gary Allan Fans,

It was determined that Gary will need to undergo a minor surgical procedure in late November to remove a polyp from a vocal cord. A complete recovery is anticipated and we expect to resume our full schedule in mid-February. Unfortunately, this means we have to reschedule the Cherokee, NC show originally scheduled for December 11th and cancel the Las Vegas show originally scheduled for December 31st. We wanted you, the fans, to know this information now, so you could change any travel plans you may have been making for these dates. Ticket refunds for these two shows will be issued at the point of purchase.

Gary, whose single 'Kiss Me When I'm Down' is making its way up the country charts, continues his 'Get Off on the Pain' tour as he kicks off a short run of Texas shows Thursday, October 21 in Corpus Christi, followed by stops in Winnie, Dallas and Houston. He'll wrap up his 2010 concert calendar in Myrtle Beach, S.C., November 20.
