Carrie Underwood has had a busy year, to say the least. The country superstar not only planned a wedding, won a handful of awards (including a Grammy and the ACM Entertainer of the Year), headlined a sold-out tour and took two big hits -- 'Temporary Home' and 'Undo It' -- to the top of the charts, she also found time to film her debut movie role. Mrs. Carrie Fisher will appear in the true story, 'Surfer Girl,' about real-life surfing star Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm to a shark when she was only 13 years old. Carrie took on the role of church youth leader, Sarah Hill, and says the final outcome surprised even her.

"I really liked how everything turned out, including myself," Carrie tells ABC News. "I was really expecting the worst from myself, and I really surprised myself."

But just because Carrie is pleased with the results, she makes it clear she has no plans to trade her microphone for more movie scripts anytime soon. "There are people that are absolutely amazing actors and actresses, and I am not one of those, though who's to say one day; you never know, maybe I will be," she says. "But I'm definitely new at this and just doing what's fun right now, and I love my music; that's my first love."

The film, which also stars Helen Hunt, Kevin Sorbo, Dennis Quaid and AnnaSophia Robb, is the perfect family-friendly flick. "It's definitely an uplifting movie," Carrie insists. "Everybody would definitely feel a lot better coming out than they did coming in."

The 'American Idol' alum admits she has a charmed life, but insists she will never take her good fortune for granted. "I'm at a place in my life where things are calm," she tells The Boot. "I have more money that I ever thought, or I would know what to do with -- not in a look how much I have kind of way, but I'm comfortable and set, so now it's time to help everyone else, too."

'Soul Surfer' hits theaters early next year. Carrie's fall leg of her 'Play On' tour, along with opening acts Billy Currington and Sons of Sylvia, will keep her busy through December. Find tour dates here.
