Faith Hill has been named the new ambassador for the Tide Loads of Hope program. Following the devastation left in the wake of the Hurricane Katrina disaster in Louisiana and Mississippi in 2005, the detergent company launched Tide Loads of Hope, a mobile laundry service providing clean clothes to families affected by disaster. For the past five years, the organization has offered free laundry services to communities affected by major disasters such as Hurricanes Katrina and Gustav, the California wildfires and most recently, the floods in Middle Tennessee.

Faith, who was born and raised in Mississippi, has thrown her support behind various charitable community efforts, and in 2004 co-founded the Neighbor's Keeper Foundation with husband Tim McGraw. The superstar says she was all too happy to join the Tide Loads of Hope campaign. "As a Mississippi native, I have witnessed the damage, both physical and emotional, that Hurricane Katrina inflicted on the Gulf Coast. Since then I have been a champion of the work Tide does to restore a sense of hope and normalcy to those affected by disaster through providing a basic necessity -- clean clothing. And with the recent flooding in Nashville, Tide was on hand again to provide relief to those affected here. I am honored to join Tide Loads of Hope as it embarks on its fifth year of supporting communities in times of great need."

More than six months after Hurricane Katrina happened, Faith and Tim had visited the affected areas several times, taking semi-trucks full of supplies and funds down to the folks who needed them. The two, among many others, helped those people who were still living in tents and makeshift homes. Faith offers kudos to those in the media who who covered the situation, taking it to the rest of the world. "I commend the people who talk about it and the news stations, and Anderson Cooper of CNN to remind people that it's not over. It's a huge, huge problem ... and it's sad that all of us get to go home to our nice, cozy homes and beds, including the people who are working down there. They get to go to a hotel or to room service, be fed, sleep in a nice bed and take a shower, while those who were affected [don't have a home to go to now]."

In addition to serving as the organization's ambassador, Faith will also headline a live concert on Tuesday, August 24, at the Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans. The significance of that theater is not lost on the organizers -- it was recently rebuilt after closing its doors following Hurricane Katrina. 'A Celebration of Hope With Faith Hill' will be free for residents of New Orleans and the surrounding area to celebrate the community's rebuilding efforts since the disaster.
