Taylor Swift Makes Generous Donation to Flood Relief

While the Nashville community continues to pick up the pieces after last weekend's devastating floods, stars are doing whatever it takes to help rebuild Music City. Taylor Swift, who moved to Nashville when she was 14 years old, has also stepped up to the plate by donating $500,000 to various flood relief funds throughout Tennessee.

"Being at home during the storm, I honestly could not believe what was happening to the city and the people I love so dearly," Taylor tells the Associated Press. "Nashville is my home, and the reason why I get to do what I love. I have always been proud to be a Nashvillian, but especially now, seeing the love that runs through this city when there are people in crisis."

This Thursday, May 6, $1.7 million was raised for flood relief through a telethon which featured the likes of Keith Urban and Vince Gill, among others. Taylor, traveling on her Fearless tour, couldn't be there in person but called in to offer support.

"It was the craziest thing that I've ever seen," Taylor said about the flooding. "I was at my house in Hendersonville. We were staring out the window, thinking it didn't seem like rain. It just seemed like something in a movie. It was really emotional for me because those are the streets I learned to drive on. People's houses are just ruined. It was so heartbreaking to see that in my town, the place that I call home, and the place that I feel most safe. I just send my love to my friends and neighbors who got hit harder than I did."

Taylor is back out on the road this weekend on the second leg of her Fearless tour featuring Kellie Pickler and Gloriana.
